Sweeny Community Hospital offers a flexible Respite Care program for all the scenarios you may run into. This could be patients that are not ready to go home but do not qualify for an inpatient stay, hospice respite, their caregivers need a break, vacations planned, or even just a place to stay during a quick remodel. We are here to help.
When a patient is interested in Respite Care, a registered nurse will evaluate the patient to determine what level of care they will need. After the determination is made, plan of care and cost can be discussed with the patient, families, and care givers. At the time of admittance, insurance information will be collected and kept on file in the event of a medical illness necessitating admission but the respite stay is not covered by insurance.
Respite Care clients are encouraged to bring reading material, hobbies, craft items, etc. that can help make SCH feel like home. For respite stays, all medications must be brought from home in pharmacy-labeled containers. Any medications or supplies provided by SCH will be billed separately from the charges for Respite Care. The responsible party for the client must maintain supplies of medications and personal items, such as diapers, pads, etc.
