TAXPAYER DISCOUNTS
All private taxpayers in the Sweeny Hospital District who are treated at the hospital may have their hospital accounts reduced by the amount of hospital taxes paid on their property. The reduction applies after all insurance payments* have been received. It cannot exceed the balance due on the account. A taxpayer may apply for this credit only once per calendar year.

This policy may be applied to hospital accounts incurred by a taxpayer’s spouse
and/or dependent children living in the home.

To receive this credit, the taxpayer must provide the paid tax receipt or tax statement showing the taxes paid in full. The amount paid for hospital district taxes would be applied to the balance.

*Including co-payments and deductibles

DONATIONS & GIVING

Sweeny Community Hospital is a nonprofit institution funded by fees for services, grants, donations, and taxes collected within the hospital district. Donations to the hospital are tax-deductible and contribute directly to the health care of West-of-the-Brazos residents.

Why donate to SCH?
Simply stated, because hospital districts routinely take on the health challenges the for-profit hospitals won’t touch. Be assured that your donation to Sweeny Community Hospital will directly benefit the thousands of people who depend on SCH for care each year.

Matching Gifts
Some companies offer matching funds when you make a donation to Sweeny Community Hospital, usually resulting in a doubling of your contribution. Please check with your employer to see if your contribution will qualify.

Memorials and Honoraria
You may designate your gift in memory or in honor of a special person. The hospital will notify the person or family of the donation, and recognize your contribution publicly unless you request anonymity.

Gifts for Specific Programs or Equipment

You may wish to direct your gift to support one of the hospital’s specific projects – assisted living, expanded emergency care, physician recruitment, hospital renovation, indigent care, etc.

General Support
You can make a donation for unrestricted support of the hospital. With these gifts we can respond more rapidly to new ideas or crisis needs in the delivery of rural health care.

Planned Giving
Deferred gifts (bequests, life insurance, qualified retirement plans, real estate or similar assets) allow you to provide a larger legacy than might be possible through cash donations made during your lifetime. For information on arranging this type of donation, contact Administrator Bill Barnes at (979) 548-1598.
